Family Holiday to Bali
Location: Bali
I came back from Bali a couple of months ago. I went with my Mum, Step Dad, Brother whose 17, and sister who it 14. It was our first family holiday together and we were all really excited to go.
When we arrived at the airport we were not sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised that the atmosphere was quiet casual and the process of going through security went really quickly. By the time we had collected our luggage and made our way outside to our Transfer person was standing on the pavement with a sign with our name on it.
It was late afternoon when we arrived at out Resort at Legian so we decided to make ourselves comfortable and have a little rest in our rooms. The Resort we stayed at was beautiful. It was right on the beach, had 3 swimming pools, interconnecting rooms (Mum and Step Dad got one room and us kids had the other), and 24 hour room service, woohoo.
A big Australian Football Match was playing that day back home so we decided to check out a couple of Hotels to see if they were playing it. Sure enough after asking a couple of other tourists we found a Sports Bar close to our Resort that was playing it. So our first night in Bali we watched footy and ate Nachos.
The boys are mad keen Surfers so they decided to hire a car and head off Surfing the next day, which was more than ok with us girls because we wanted to hit the shops. There are a lot of great Surfing spots in Bali and if you don't want to take your Surf Board on the plane with you they are really cheap to hire. It doesn't take long to find out where the surf is pumping either, most of the locals speak some English and they are more than happy to let you know where the good waves are. Us girls shopped, and shopped, and shopped, and the best thing about Bali is that EVERYTHING is sooooo cheap.
Because of the low price of everything we ate out every night. There are so many Restaurants to choose from. We ate Thai, Mexican, Italian, and of course Balinese. I recommend trying Nasi Goerang it's Balinese for Fried Rice, and it is really yummy.
One of the days we drove up to Ubud and visited the Monkey Forest, the Monkey's are very cute, but be warned don't try to pat them, and keep all belongings secure because they have been known to steal from unsuspecting Tourists. All of us got the chance to get massages on the beach too. That was a great experience, relaxing watching the world go by as your pampered on the beach. My sister and I also got out hair braided, which was quite funny because there are about 5 Balinese girls working on your hair at once. I went horse riding too along the beach which was very beautiful. My guide took me into a little Village and explained the Balinese way of life, and I got to drink the milk out of a freshly cut Coconut. They put on a lovely lunch at the end of the ride at a nearby Resort which was a great end to a really enjoyable ride.
There are so many good reasons to go to Bali, it's cheap and it's not just cheap once you get there, it's cheap to fly there too, for most of the year the weather is beautiful and warm, they have great beaches, the food is to die for, you can shop, shop, shop, and the Balinese people are lovely.
